Dear Guest,

Introducing Tuesday Men’s Golf

This is email is primarily for those of you not familiar with Tuesday Men’s golf. If you’ve got time available for 18 holes on a Tuesday and would like a good social round of golf with a good crowd, then read on.

A group of men (currently around 50 of them) have been playing at around midday on a Tuesday for many years (over 30!). They have a tradition of great competition (using handicaps) combined with fun and socializing.

A key component of the group is varied, weekly competitions, throughout the year. In 2025 they’ll be playing about 13 different handicap events, including a Tuesday Men v Women event. There is a wide range of handicaps in the group at present, they cater for everyone.

After game function:

With the group being quite social, they encourage everyone to get together in the club house after the round to hear the results from the day’s duty person. There is also a lucky prize draw of $6.00, but you have to be present to win.

Tee-off times:

Starting times are generally from 11.00am off both 1 and 10 tees so that players finish close together. Predominately they play off the White tees, but also use the Composite course and the Yellow Tees, and very rarely the Blue and Terrocota.

Entry:

To play in the weekly comp, the fee is $5.00 per week, payable to the pro when picking up your card.. This covers both the main Competition and the Two's.

Each week $3.00 goes towards the main competition prize for that week, the winner getting $14.00; second place $10.00; and anyone else mentioned in dispatches $6.00.

$1.00 goes to the twos competition, the money is divided equally amongst those getting a two.

If we have a nearest the pin or straightest drive competition on that day, this is also paid for out from the Two's money. Prize money is paid directly into the members account in the Pro-shop.

Finally, the last $1.00 goes towards their Christmas Cheer function in December where everyone (as long as you have played 8 weeks in the year) gets a prize, usually a supermarket, fuel or meat voucher or bottle of wine.

Most playing groups will have a haggle, however it is universally accepted that this is limited to a $1 for each half, plus $1 for the match, $3 in all.

Bulletins:

Approximately monthly, members of the group receive an email with the planned competitions for the following couple of months.

How to get involved:

  • Simply book yourself in to one of the spots assigned to Tuesday mens golf around 11:00 two weeks in advance. The group tries to mix playing partners up so you aren’t always playing with the same group.
  • Phone the pro shop and ask them to book you in.
  • Get in touch with one of the group administrators such as Russell Holland on 06 877 1285 and he’ll make sure you’re booked in.
  • Then, when you pick up your card, enter the days comp on the touch screen and pay your entry fee.

The group would love to have some new members so why not give it a go.
