Dear Guest,

December 2024 Newsletter

I would like to introduce myself as the incoming Women’s Captain for 2025, Emma Mouat. It’s with great pleasure that I have been given this opportunity to represent you over the coming year and be your voice within the club. I have taken on this role to help propel women’s golf forward by creating a positive, supportive, and community driven environment.

I haven’t had the chance to meet you all so thought I would share a little bit about myself. I am from Wellington originally and have been living in Hawkes Bay on a beef farm in Kereru for the past 8 years. Before living in Hawke's Bay, I was working in Auckland for Westpac in the Transactional Banking Team creating and pitching banking solutions to Institutional clients and previous to that working for American Express in Sydney where I sat on the Small Business Leadership team heading up Partnerships across Australia and helping to oversee 60 account and sale executives. My background in strategic partnerships, client relationships, and sales and marketing bring a wealth of expertise in strategic insights, relationship building and conflict resolution.

I am relatively new to golf, starting my journey 8 years ago with Hastings, my husband Andrew represents the club often at Greenwood and my father-in-law Bryan Mouat has been a member for 28 years. I have two stepchildren Tabitha 16 and Jono 14. When not golfing, I help Andrew run the financial and strategic side of the farm and am owner/operator of a small vineyard in Bridge Pa Triangle. A large part of my early life was playing water polo for New Zealand, and I have represented New Zealand at two FINA World Swimming Championships. I am also a member of a couple of other golf clubs and have a great network of women golfers across the country to tap into and bounce ideas off to enhance our programme.

As a full membership 18 hole player I play my golf on our club day Tuesday and will be at the club on Wednesdays to spend time with the 9 hole ladies. If you are unable to make those days, drop me an email or phone call and I would be happy to meet you in person or play some golf.

Jill Marshall is the Vice Captain and will be joining me on the Golf Committee.  Jill is a 9 hole player with significant experience in corporate roles and will help immensely in running the 9 hole ladies programme.  Thank you Jill for putting your hand up.

I would lastly like to take this opportunity to thank our previous Captain Annabelle Absolom for all the hard work she has put in over the last two years. The windows have been the most visible part of what she has done but she has achieved so much more like creating the Women’s Working Group, introducing new events like the Ladies Ambrose, and 9 Hole tournament, revitalized the Shootout and not to forget the fabulous prizes at all of these events due to her strong relationship with sponsors. Your confidence in her was shown by her election to the 2025 management committee and she will continue to promote the women’s programme in this role. She will be a hard act to follow, and I will do my best to build on her success.

Belle and I will be at the 18 and 9 hole Christmas Cheers next week so please take the time to thank her for all the hard work and take the opportunity to meet me.

Good luck for the event and happy golfing.
