Women's Update
Gosh winter has certainly arrived now with a few good Frosts. Trust your golf is going well and great to see several new members and guests out on the Course and having lessons with our Club Pros. The Women’s Calendar has been very busy lately and well done to some our members competing and supporting other Clubs at their tournaments with great results. Our Pennants Teams are very competitive and have had some close matches and good wins. Hastings Tuis (Midweek) and Crossman (Weekend) as we speak are leading their competitions. You will notice that the inaugural “Hastings Women’s Classic” Golf Tournament is all go, so get in your entries and spread the word. The tournament is being held after the Holly Hospice Trail in November. See details below.
Nancy MacCormick Memorial Foursomes
The competition was a Foursome’s handicap stroke play and was won by Jocelyn McClelland and Louise Newbigin with a fantastic nett score over two rounds of 141. Runners up were Kate Barr and Buffy Longstaff on 151.
Annie Hutchinson Tournament
Well, the weather was not kind to us the night prior, but it did clear just before we started, what a relief. Thanks to those players who entered as we all managed to play with out rain. Congratulations to Robyn Orton who was the winner of the Annie Hutchinson Salver and to Patsy White runner-up. Thanks also goes to Elysia and her team at Fairways Café for providing a lovely lunch. Once again, our thanks go to Hutchinson’s for their continued support of this annual competition.
Lucy May & Bay Bronze Interprovincial Challenge.
This representative competition between Hawke’s Bay and Poverty Bay commenced in 1971 and this year Poverty Bay hosted. Congratulations to the following players who were selected to represent the Region from our Club: - Annabelle Absolom, Robyn Stallard, Joanne Wheater, Christine Bird, Katie Caseley and Patsy White. The results were a draw for the Lucy May Team (Silver Division) and a great win for the Bay Bronze Team.
